Setting up a new local gaming group: Marrickville to Hurstville (South Sydney)

Posted in Warhammer 40k, Warhammer Fantasy with tags , on 15 May, 2012 by russde

Given some of my mates are spread around greater Sydney, I’ve decided to try and setup a local gaming group in my area.

I’ll be advertising on WargamerAU, DakkaDakka, BoLS and Librarium soon.

Update: Battles, terrain and painting

Posted in Terrain, Warhammer 40k on 13 April, 2012 by russde

Ok been a while… Had a game with Shadow (3rd at 3++ Con) with my IG. Got destroyed hard, ignored my game plan and pretty much relied on luck for my achievements. Guess what? Luck wasn’t on my side. What did I do wrong?
1. No bubble wrap
2. Too spread out (I got refused flanked by Orks!)
3. Relied on 50/50 fights to win (fail)

Also been updating my terrain. Painted 50% of my Cities of Death buildings and all the Planetstrike craters.

Set myself up at my other* residence for painting my IG.

Merry Christmas to all and sundry!
May your stockings/under tree/credit card deliver you many boxes and blister packs of tablets goodies (of course Warhammer Fantasy n 40k is preferred :) )!

Drive carefully over the break and make sure to take a moment to say thanks to your family and all the great ppl who’ve been there for you over the past year. On a similar note, I hope all the defence forces personnel have a safe and relaxing period over the New Year and we pray for those who have been lost to us…

Enjoy your break, we hope to bring you more hobby goodies over the next week.

Cool stuff: The Order of Dorn

Posted in Modelling with tags , on 11 August, 2011 by russde

Cool alternate Space Marine models, these are a cool hybrid of a few plastic and resin kits. “I like it alot!”

A whole crusade or Imperial Fists siege army of these with some appropriately converted APCs and other vehicles would look truly amazing.

The Order of Dorn  http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=313615  Just thought I’d post up a few pictures of my knew DIY chapter project.  After years away I’ve finally been drawn back into the hobby and after a few months playing DE I’ve decided to return to my first love, the templars.  I’ll post a more detailed index astartes style fluff article in the next few days but for know all you need to know is the they’re a third founding chapter of the Imperial Fists.   One of the first to be created using Dorn’s gene seed after the heresy the chapter keeps to it’s feudal roots with each marine being the head of one of the many noble houses found on their homeworld. Command and rank have nothing to do with each marines relative level of ability but more the standing and wealth of his family.  In the marines stead each house is ruled by a steward (the next inline to his title, usually a brother) who at the proper time will be asked to give up his first born son as heir to be trained as a squire by head of his house.  So early after the Heresy, and founded by the orders of Dorn himself the Imperial Fists had little to offer the newly formed chapter by way of equipment and as a result the first Knights of Dorn were donned in the older marks of power armour now little utilised by the Fists.  To this day these suits of armour are still worn by the Knights of Dorn. Salvaged and repaired after each battle it is considered a disgrace for a marine to lose his family’s armour, carefully customised over millennia to bear their personal heraldry on helm and shoulderpad.  Champion  By cleal_baros at 2011-08-10  Marines  By cleal_baros at 2011-08-10  By cleal_baros at 2011-08-10  (WIP) Housecarl Terminators All of the chapters terminator armour is the personal property of the king.
